Destination Greece

When it comes to deciding where you’re going to head on your annual summer holiday, you have a huge amount of choice, in fact whittling down your decision can be a little headache-inducing. That aside, you have to look at the positives, and that is the fun you can have from dreaming of endless days spent on beautiful beaches, cities and sights to explore, as well as the sun tan you can expect to show off when you return home.

One of the most popular destinations for summer sun is without a doubt Greece.

Famed for white-washed buildings and blue domed churches, sun-drenched beaches, and friendly, welcoming locals, Greece has a huge amount of destinations to choose from, meaning there is an island and resort for every kind of need and want.

You might think that every island is the same, but that is a mistake, because every single resort, no matter which island you go to, is different in many subtle ways. For example, you could head to Kavos on Corfu, or Malia on Crete for wild party times, where you will certainly be dancing until the sun comes up in a rather inebriated state, or you could head to the dramatic and romantic landscapes of Santorini, with a volcanic history evident wherever you look. Zante is the ideal island for families and those seeking a slower pace of life, and Rhodes offers a little bit of something for everyone, with historic ruins in the older section of Rhodes Town, and beach fun with party central in Faliraki. Throw in a spot of Greek mythology and some delicious traditional food, and you’re good to go!

Greece boasts over 300 days of sunshine per year, which is a claim not many other countries can make. Obviously the main summer season between May to October is when the weather is at its most optimum, but if you want soaring temperatures then July and August are for you, when the mercury rises and the sun doesn’t seem to disappear from the blue skies above.

The great news is that you can find great deals to Greece throughout the summer season if you look hard enough, meaning a break in this sunny part of the world won’t break the bank. You could go all-inclusive, especially great if you’re travelling as a family with children, or you could go self-catering, meaning you can get out and visit a few traditional restaurants and Greek tavernas, sampling some authentic food, such as delicious moussaka.

Put simply, Greece is a holiday resort which is varied, vibrant, unique, and offers everything you could possibly want and need for a summer holiday in wonderful weather conditions, perfect for catching a golden tan, with plenty of memories to last long after it has faded.
